Now that your groups have had a taste of performing a literature review to support your topic, what did you think of the process? If you were a parent attempting to make a similar decision, would you have searched the same way? Evaluated what you found in a similar fashion? Do you think there is a better way for researchers to get their findings to the public? What would it be? What do you think?
If I were a parent, which I am not, and I was searching for information to inform my decision about certain aspects of raising a child, I would probably do some research looking at specific published studies about the topic, but I would not look too deeply into the studies. When searching for our class related assignment, we were looking to support a particular viewpoint which obviously narrows our vision and affects the way in which we look at and take in research; so I would search with an open mind in order to evaluate information objectively. However, it appears that many studies regarding the same topic display different results due to a combination of factors. I think that researchers could maybe try to get their information out to the public a little more, but I don't know if it would really have an effect on individual people's perceptions and actions. People who look up studies about this topic are likely the ones to be open to using their info and suggestions. Sure, studies and experiments are good to gain information from, but when it comes down to it, I think most people are gonna parent however they can and choose to parent. But I don't know, I'm not a parent.
